WARNING: PROMERIS BY FORT DODGE

I have received close to 10 emails from members regarding this new flea and tick preventative- dachshund owners, huskies, poodles, airedales, etc. Dogs are being brought to the emergency room after using this product, and the owners are experiencing disorientation, dizziness, and not being able to drive after applying this to their pups- please, try to work with nature- your pup's health depends on it!

As Middle Island is located in the Pine Barrens and will be lush with growth, please make sure your pup is well protected for the tick season.

If you are looking to work with nature, not against it, here is a earth friendly organic recipe to repel ticks that really works:

Cut up 2 lemons, sliced very thin, and 2 tablespoons dried rosemary, and add to 4 cups of water- bring the mixture to a boil, and simmer for a half hour. Let this mixture sit overnight, strain, and put in a spray bottle. Kept refrigerated, this mixture keeps it's potency for 2-3 weeks.

When you arrive at the park, saturate your pup with this solution, and of course, don't get the mixture in or near the eye area. I also re-saturate Little Dude with this solution if I am there for an hour or more.  This recipe was submitted to me by our member Diane Cullen, and tested at the height of the tick season at Southaven Park, and it really works!

And, if you are concerned with fleas and don't want to use Frontline (I wouldn't want to put that on my skin- would you?) there is a fabulous all natural flea repellent sold by www.onlynaturalpet.com called Herbal Defense Spray, containing Neem, lemongrass and other essential oils- great product, and it leaves the pup smell great for weeks! I use it once a week during flea season, and daily run a flea comb on my pup. The result? No fleas, and no poisoning my pup and the environment!
